Last Days

For in the end, the only ones to sign the book

Are those most overlooked

And faded into black and grey

We reach the chasm in our own sweet time

When the patterns realign

And all the cranes wheel away

You’re talking over me

I’m walking over you

And it all seems untrue

Unreal fantasies

And all your words were dead

At least I thought that’s what you said

Turn around and face the wall

When the ruins fall

Take it all down in a secret way

Act like a fool in a passion play

Dance in a circle around the stone

Dream of a sky where you fly alone

Take it all back like it never came

Wash it all off in the driving rain

Speak like a mute misunderstood

Move like a mime in Hollywood

Gather your plans, throw them all away

Go past the tide, drift far away

Stare at the sun ‘til it all turns black

Follow your fears, there’s no turning back

Two will merge and two divide

The waters part, the rivers rise

The seas will boil, the desert burns

Though time will pass the heart still yearns
